About this experience
Rising 171 metres above King Abdullah Square, the Jeddah Flagpole was the tallest flagpole in the world when the Saudi flag was first raised on National Day, 23 September 2014. It held that record until 2021. The giant flag measures about 49.5 by 33 metres. The 26,000-square-metre square around it represents the Kingdom's emblem of two swords and a palm, with landscaped planting and 13 lights for the 13 regions. The pole is visible from much of central Jeddah and is especially striking when lit for national occasions. Photo credits: Gregor Rom (CC BY-SA 4.0) via Wikimedia Commons.
