About this experience
Beit Nassif is Al-Balad's best-known merchant mansion, completed in the 1870s for the Nassif family on the old main market street. Its coral-stone facade rises several storeys behind dark wooden rawasheen, and its wide ramped staircase is said to have let camels carry goods to the upper floors. King Abdulaziz stayed here after entering Jeddah in 1925. The small square in front, shaded by a large tree long said to be the only one in old Jeddah, is a favourite meeting point and photo spot.
