About this experience
Al-Rahma Mosque, nicknamed the Floating Mosque, stands on white stilts over the Red Sea along Jeddah's North Corniche. Built in 1985, its white walls, pale blue dome and slender minaret seem to hover above the water at high tide. Arched walkways and windows open onto the sea, and the courtyard catches a cooling breeze at sunrise and sunset, the favourite times for photographs. The mosque holds around 2,100 worshippers and has a separate raised prayer hall for women.
